Oral Cancer Exam
Oral Cancer Symptoms
- Red or white patches in your mouth.
- Lumps and lesions on the inside of your mouth.
- Sores that bleed and don’t heal.
- Difficulty chewing and swallowing food or drinks.
- Chronic sore throat.
Oral cancer screening is an examination performed at our office to look for signs of cancer or precancerous conditions in your mouth. The goal of an oral cancer screening is to identify mouth cancer early, when there is a greater chance for a cure.
These exams take a few minutes and we look at your mouth for any unusual lesions, ulcerations, color changes or anything else that appears out of place.
The best way to prevent it is by avoiding high-risk behaviors, such as chewing tobacco or smoking.
We also recommend performing oral cancer self-exams on a regular basis to check for any early signs.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms without obvious cause then please contact us.
